.1 is Special Cylinder arrangement
G means gas
P means with mechanical shaft seals
X means nonstandard compressor execution

3. What are the typical areas of application for CNG Compressors?

Ans: Bottling Plants, Electrolysis plants, Helium recovery systems, NGV/CNG refueling systems, Hydro power stations, Seismic research, Gas production plants, Air separation plants, Air-blast circuit breaker systems, Oil and gas industry, Petro chemicals industry.

4. What is the net weight of C5U214 without motor or gas engine?

Ans: Net weight (without motor) in Metric tons approximately is: 1.6.

5. What are the benefits of having Robust, modern, compact design and factory assembled, packaged compressor unit on its own base frame with anti-vibration mounts?

Ans: Simple onsite installation, no factory erector required, no special foundation required, Minimal space requirement, suitable as mobile unit, High accessibility for ease of maintenance.

6. What are the benefits of having low-pressure ratio per stage?

Ans: High efficiency, low discharge temperature, less wear, safer operation.

7. What are the benefits of having automatic drains for each stage collecting the condensate into an integral receiving tank, where the gas from the tank is recycled into the suction line?

Ans: Unloaded starting, Low operator attention, no gas loss to atmosphere.

8. What are the benefits of having pressure-tight crank case?

Ans: Power saving, no gas loss to atmosphere, flexibility to handle various inlet pressures, optimization to match specific operating conditions.

9. What are the benefits of having air-cooled compressor?

Ans: No other coolant necessary, therefore no fouling, No risk of corrosion, no need for cooling tower, pups etc., Fewer parts, simpler site installation and maintenance.

10. What is the benefit of having all the compressor units subjected to a trail run on the test bed of Sulzer before delivery?

Ans: Fully tested compressor delivered to site.

11. Give a brief idea about the cylinders in the compressor.

Ans: The cylinders are made of high quality cast iron with deep transverse fins for ample cooling. The pistons are made of cast iron and incorporate specially selected cast iron or synthetic piston ring combinations.

12. Give a brief idea about valves in the compressor.

Ans: The valves have been designed specially for the very severe conditions, which appear in high-pressure gas compressors. Suction and discharge parts of the individual stages are concentrically combined in one single valve which, placed on top of the cylinder, can be removed easily. The position of the suction part in the valve center allows cooling of the discharge part situated on the outer side. Valve lift, spring characteristic and the material of the plates are chosen according to the gases compressed and the operating conditions.

13. Give a brief idea about Instrumentation in the compressor.

Ans: Each compressor stage is equipped with a pressure gauge and safety valve. The gauges are arranged in a compact panel, which also contains the indicating oil pressure gauge. One temperature switch monitors the gas temperature on the last stage. The outlet of the safety valves is picked back to the suction side of the compressor for gas application. Level indicators for crankcase oil and for condensate receiving tank are also provided.

14. Give a brief of Automatic condensate drain.

Ans: The separators located at the outlet of each stage are regularly drained by means of a diaphragm valves actuated by a timer-controlled solenoid. The condensate and escaping gas are led from the separators into a condensate-receiving tank from where the gas is recycled into the suction line while the condensate can be manually or automatically drained off to the atmosphere. The unit is fully piped, with high-strength flexible hoses for connection on the suction and discharge side.

15. What are the gases handled by CU Compressor?

Without Canopy what is the sound level from the first meter for Electric Motor driven compressor and for Gas Engine driven compressor.

Ans: Noise level of the compressor will be approx. 120 dBA (without canopy). With electric motor it will be approx. 95 dBA (without canopy) at 1-meter distance in free field

39. Does Sulzer machine use any filter between the gasline (Titas Gas Supply Line) and compressor or does Sulzer machine use any filter between the gasline (Titas Gas Supply Line) and Caterpillar Gas Engine?

Ans: It is not recommended to use the gas filter for NA (naturally aspirated) engines. They do use on TA (Turbocharged Aftercooled) engines. It is recommended to feed the gas free from debris and particles. For this Gas engine at 98Kw load it require around 31SM3/hr @ fuel LHV of 905Btu/ft3.
